Summer Riding Experience

Enter the fascinating world of horses this summer by joining our program. This program is specifically designed for girls and boys ages 7-16 and runs weekly, Monday through Friday. Whether a complete beginner or a polished show rider, we can help you learn about horses. On our 172 acre farm, we provide horses and ponies just for children to learn on. We also have enough stalls to board any rider's private horse.

Beginners will learn the fundamentals of horse care and the basics of English riding. Intermediate and Advanced riders will learn the skills they need to further their riding education.

Proper attire: every student should wear a t-shirt (some type of sleeve), close fitting pants (i.e. jeans, riding breeches if possible), a hard-soled shoe with a 1/2 - 1 inch heel (sneakers not permitted), and a well fitting hunt cap. ASTM approved safety helmets are available for use.

Regular Riding Experience: The cost is $300, running from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Riders are grouped according to ability. Since each session is limited, 12 riders per week, early sign-up is encouraged. Riders will spend the early hours in the saddle learning about hunt seat equitation. After a light snack (provided), the remaining time is spent in unmounted instruction. Weather presents no problem with our two large indoor arenas.

Dates: June 24-June 28, July 8-12, July 22-26, July 29-August 2, August 5-9

Advanced Week: The cost of advanced week is $425, running from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. (this includes field trips). Please note: advanced riding is for those who can walk, trot, canter, and jump small courses. If you do not ride regularly at or with an MVHC instructor, please contact us to discuss whether your rider qualifies before signing up. This session is a great option for riders who currently or plan to show in schooling or rated shows. Riders become more comfortable with traveling and spending a longer time in the saddle. Riders in the Advanced week are required to bring their own lunch. 2019 Dates are July 15-19.

Please complete the registration form and return with a $25 non-refundable deposit to the address below. The deposit reserves your spot for the week and is applicable to the fee. We accept cash, checks, and credit cards. Gift certificates are available.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you.
